What you need to know about hyaluronic acid
There are 4 medical aspects to the treatment:
1 – Attenuation of muscle contractions with botulinum toxin (botox).
2 – Restoration of volume through injections of the patient’s own fat, lipostructure, hyaluronic acid-based volumizing products, or calcium derivatives.
There are two types of product: absorbable and permanent.
What you need to know about hyaluronic acid
It’s imperative that facial injections be based exclusively on resorbable products. Since nothing can stop the passage of time, a treated wrinkle will systematically be next to another wrinkle which will appear in the same area a few months later. We will therefore have to reinject products into these wrinkles on a regular basis, once or twice a year. There is therefore no advantage in injecting so-called permanent products whose clinical effects are not permanent. What’s more, if these permanent products were to trigger an allergic reaction, it too would be permanent, which would be very difficult to treat. So there’s more to lose than to gain with these so-called permanent products.
On the other hand, hyaluronic acids (Juverderm, Glytone, Restylane, Perlane etc…) and calcium derivatives (Radiesse) are used with real safety for your face, and their duration of action varies from 6 to 24 months.
